Customize the Task Bar
1. Right-click the taskbar and choose Properties to open
the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box.
2. If the Lock the Taskbar check box is selected, click it to
free up the taskbar.
3. Move the cursor over the taskbar and notice how it
changes into arrows, suggesting how you can modify
the length and width of the sections in the taskbar.
4. Click and drag the edges of the taskbar to extend or
compress it.
5. To make the taskbar hide until you move the cursor
to the bottom of the screen, select the Auto-Hide the
Taskbar check box. You can also select check boxes to
keep the taskbar on top of other windows and show the
Quick Launch section.
6. To move the taskbar to the right, left, or top of the
screen, unlock it and drag it to the side of the screen
where you want to lock it.
7. Click the Toolbars tab to add or remove sections from
the taskbar. Your choices vary depending on the programs installed on your computer.
The Quick Launch section of the toolbar is to the immediate right of
the Start button, and it’s a good place to store shortcuts of commonly used programs and files
