Use Default Folders

Use Default Folders

1. Click the Start button and look for your name at the top
of the right column of the Start menu.
2. Click your name to display the list of default folders. The following points can help you
navigate this listing:
• By default, files downloaded from the Internet are
placed in the Downloads folder.
• Documents are saved by default to the Documents
folder.
Creating additional folders inside the Documents folder helps you
organize your files. For example, you can place text documents in
a Text folder and store files related to your finances in a Taxes
folder.
• Your Internet bookmarks are stored in the Favorites
folders.
• Items and files on your desktop are shown in the
Desktop folder.
• Folders such as Music, Pictures, and Videos are
intended for media files.
Although you can store any kind of files in any folder, most programs save files to the appropriate folder by default. You can
change this behavior from inside the program, if you want
